English saddle on a Western horse? Costume help, too?

For halloween, I plan on using my horse for part of my costume.
Some sort of medieval fantasy. An elf, probably.
So... I have two questions for you all.

1. My mustang rides Western. But the saddle I have for him is... purple. No joke. I'd really rather not use it, since it would not match my costume. However, I do have a nice black English saddle in my tack room. So, I would like to know if I'd be able to get away with using that for a night. I don't plan on doing much with him but walking and maybe occasionally trotting. But that's about it.

2. Do you have any ideas for what I could do with my horse? He is a black and white paint mustang. Gelding. I would like to do something with him for my costume, but i'm not quite sure. Any ideas of designs i could put on him with Twinkle, or ideas for spicing him up? Keep in mind this is a medieval costume.

Thank you so much!

As long as the English saddle fits him, your HORSE won't care if you use it. However, if you are not used to riding in an English saddle, YOU might regret it. You'd better make sure you feel comfortable trotting in the English saddle. In my experience, it's pretty easy for an English rider to transition to a Western saddle, but Western riders trying to learn English can have a harder time. So if you don't know how to ride in an English saddle, start practicing now!

I guess another option might be to drape some sort of cloth over your Western saddle. I've seen people do this to make a medieval-looking saddle anyway. Just cut a hole to hook the fabric over the horn and cut slits in the sides for your stirrups to go through. Make sure your horse gets used to it so the flapping fabric does not scare your horse!

You could do the costume of the lady on the left. There are other pictures on their website too.
