I want to buy a Paso Fino horse. Does anyone have one? What are they like?
I owned horses about 10 years ago and I am looking into buying another one soon. I am really interested in Paso Finos but I have never ridden one. I owned a Shetland pony, an Arab-Welsh and a Thoroughbred. I would imagine riding a gaited horse is quite different from riding non-gaited breeds. I am looking for a pleasure and trail horse and I hear they are good for this. I am also a small person, so their small stature is a good thing. I also keep hearing about how they are spirited etc. I was wondering if anyone can give me some information about their personalities etc. Also too, I can ride English or Western but I see various kinds of tack used on them. Which is the more common way (or best way) to ride them? Do they need breed specific saddles and bridles due to the shape of their back, gaits, etc? Any info would be much appreciated!
Other things....Are they prone to spooking, generally? Do they have any health or personality tendancies I should know about?
Paso finos are great horses.. I personally like Peruvian pasos better but that's because i grew up around them...
Paso finos are very good natured.. and generally aren't easy to spook they are hardy the only major health problem is DSLD its a degenerative ligament disease in there legs.. Peruvian pasos get it to
